MARKELIÑE WON AN AWARD AT THE XVI UMORE AZOKA DE LEIOA 2015

The jury of the XVI Umore Azoka awarded MARKELIÑE the Prize to the Best Basque Country Street Performance for its show, ANDANTE. This award was given for "the audacity that it displays in providing the street with a spirit of transformation and for placing the audience within a poetic and evocative atmosphere using essential street performance items".

The jury consisted of Filgi Claveri (head of Hameka and of Harri Xuri, Lapurdi), Anna Giribet (FiraTàrrega), Elena Ros (producer and distributor of shows), Fernando Marín (Director of Kaldearte-International Street Art Event in Vitoria-Gasteiz) and Iñaki Ziarrusta (director, actor and set designer).

Umore Azoka was held from 21 to 24 May, 2015. Over a period of three days, 50 groups submitted their proposals, including 22 premiers and over 170 performances.

ANDANTE is a street performance that tells stories that we should not forget in a poetic manner, without words but with a pleasant sense of humour. Stories about anonymous shoes in wartime. Shoes that could be ours. Premiered at the Fira de Tàrrega 2014.
