A
woman leaves a heart, probably broken, in a wastepaper bin. A street
cleaner sweeps leaves. Lovers meet and exchange flowers and love. This
is the beginning of DIFFICULT LOVE AFFAIRS, a new proposal by Markeliñe
for the stage and for adults.
A certain columnist said that perfect love, returned, happy, is not
an object of literature or art. The story lasts until the main characters
live happily ever after. But there are many stories that do not end
there; those are the ones we want to tell, the ones that start at that
point. We want to confront characters with the search for that love
or with encounters that are not fruitful; to show, with irony and a
certain level of gentleness, difficult love affairs. Two men, two women,
love and lack of affection, encounters and misunderstandings.
An affectionate show, delicate, which points to magic realism with aesthetics;
a comical and ironic performance, set in any park, on any bench, next
to any wastepaper bin and lamp post.
The people who pass by may be lovers, known or unknown, suicides, randy
characters, dissolute people, wounded … couples exchange in a spark
of common sense or unite for ever with indissoluble ties. A show that
mixes real and imaginary elements, hearts leave their bodies and flowers
become flames. Lovers change couples, words are unnecessary, sex is
not love and love is not sex. Magic, attraction, pursuit. Dashed hopes,
broken hearts and difficult love affairs .
